Gap.com purchases CAN be returned to physical Gap stores - that's a return within the same brand. But Gap.com purchases CANNOT go to Gap Factory stores or any other brand's locations. The reverse applies too: GapFactory.com purchases must go to Gap Factory stores only.

Everything redeemed through the Encore Market - exclusive products, partner items, experiences - is final sale. Points used for Encore Market redemptions cannot be refunded or returned to your account. This applies regardless of your membership tier.

Swimwear

Swimwear is returnable within the standard window, but only if the original price tags and hygienic liner are both intact. Remove either one, and the return will be refused. Some swimwear items are also designated as "mail only" for returns and can't be taken to a physical store.

Activewear brands like Lululemon have their own swimwear return rules, and other fashion retailers like Zara and H&M also restrict swimwear returns similarly.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses have the tightest return requirements. You need all three: original receipt, tags still attached, AND the complimentary case that came with them. Missing any of these? Return denied.

The exception: defective sunglasses can be returned at any time, regardless of the 30-day window and without the full set of accessories.

"Mail Only" Items
